On the 20th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001, and in honor of all of the first responders who gave and continue to give their lives in the service of others, the FMFD is sponsoring a fundraiser to highlight the dangers firefighters encounter on a daily basis and throughout the course of their careers; specifically that of Cancer. Firefighters have a 9 percent higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer and a 14 percent higher risk of dying from cancer than the general US population according to research conducted by the CDC and the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH). The hazards for their sacrificial service far outweigh that of the general population and are in addition to other physical and mental threats. By purchasing this limited T-Shirt, you will be helping to contribute to studying the link between Firefighting and its susceptibility to Cancer. Ten dollars from every shirt will be donated to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. Please help us to aid in the research of this silent danger.
